UEPP 370: History of Planning

Urban & Envr Plan & Policy · 4 credits

UEPP 370, History of Planning, surveys the origins, development, and significance of the planning field in the United States and the profession that emerged from it. The course looks at the seminal innovators, practices, and achievements in U.S. urban and regional planning through three distinct phases: 1) Early Planning (pre-modern to 1930), 2) Mid/Late 20th Century Planning (1940s-1990s), 3) 21st Century Planning (2000-present). The course highlights the voices and experiences of people and communities often underrepresented in traditional planning narratives.
