It overviews the theoretical background of these disciplines and allows students to learn and practice the experimental procedures in paleomagnetism by developing an original research problem. Results are described and discussed in a required research paper. Research project topics are varied, examples include paleomagnetism of displaced terranes, regional and global tectonics, magnetostratigraphy, environmental magnetism and archaeomagnetism.
