Calendar
Winter 2027
The topics and dates of future lectures may change. The syllabus gives the topics and readings week by week; this calendar gives them day by day, so where the two differ, this calendar is the more recent plan.
Winter quarter runs from Tuesday, January 5 to Friday, March 19, 2027, and the last week, March 15 to 19, is finals week. Lectures meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Each section’s two-hour lab meets once a week, on Thursday or Friday; the syllabus lists the times and rooms. There is no class on Monday, January 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) or Monday, February 15 (Presidents’ Day). Both are Washington state holidays, set as the third Mondays of January and February (WAC 357-31-005).
Canvas lists every due date and is the place to submit work.
- Homework is due on Friday at 10pm, with no penalty until 10pm that Sunday. Homework 6 has no extension.
- Each lab is due at 10pm on the Monday after the lab, or on the next class day when that Monday is a holiday.
- Quiz 0 is given in week 1.
Midterms 1 and 2 are in class, tentatively on Wednesday, January 27 and Wednesday, February 17. If a midterm’s date changes, I will announce the change at least two weeks before that exam.
The final exam is 10:30am to 12:30pm in finals week, in your lecture classroom, on a day set by your section’s lecture time. WWU’s finals schedule sets the slot for classes that meet on neither Tuesday nor Thursday:
- Lectures starting between 10:30 and 11:29am (our 11:00 sections) take their final on Tuesday, March 16.
- Lectures starting between 8:30 and 9:29am (our 9:00 sections) take their final on Thursday, March 18.
- A class’s lab does not change its exam slot.
