Morrison Lab
Morrison-Lab is the GitHub organization for Ezra Morrison’s professional work: course notes, guides to writing and computing, templates for new projects, and the research software and tooling behind them. Each project lives in its own repository and publishes its own site. This page links to them.
Guides
- Principles of Scientific Writing: a style guide for writing in STEM, with a focus on writing about statistical data analysis.
- Principles of Scientific Computing: coding guidance for research projects, the computing companion to the writing guide.
- Working with AI: notes on working responsibly and effectively with AI coding assistants.
Ezra co-leads the UC Davis Seroepidemiology Research Group (SeRG) with Kristen Aiemjoy. The group’s lab manual covers how the group works.
Courses
The course sites form a prerequisite sequence.
- Math for Data Science
- Probability for Data Science
- Statistics for Data Science
- Two sites build on the statistics site:
- Machine Learning, focused on prediction
- Regression Models for Epidemiology, focused on inference about model parameters
Two causal-inference sites sit outside that sequence. The regression site builds on both:
Templates
New projects start from these repositories:
Tooling
- gha: reusable GitHub Actions workflows for R-package and Quarto repositories.
- ai-config: shared configuration, skills, and rules for AI coding agents.
- macros: LaTeX macros for statistical notation, shared across the Quarto sites.
- slidebreak: a Quarto shortcode that inserts an untitled slide break in presentation formats and has no effect in document formats.
R packages
- rwicc: regression with interval-censored covariates.
- snapr: snapshot-testing helpers for R packages.
- pr.helpers: helpers for pull-request and merge-request Git workflows.
- gdl: graphs of package download counts.
- rmb: datasets for Regression Methods in Biostatistics.
