PHYS 345: Quantum Computing

Physics · 3 credits · Physics and Astronomy

This course provides an introduction to the theory of quantum computing, designed for students with diverse backgrounds. No prior knowledge of quantum physics is required. The course introduces quantum bits (qubits) as a novel model for computation, and explores topics such as multiqubit systems, partial measurements, entanglement, quantum gates and circuits, the quantum Fourier transform, and the factoring algorithm. Students will also gain hands-on experience in quantum programming using Qiskit on IBM's quantum hardware.

Offered in 3 of the 26 listed terms (Spring 2022 to Fall 2025).
