ENVS 437K: Agroecology and Biodynamics Intensive

Environmental Studies · 8 credits

Intensive study in two emerging areas of agroecology: biodynamic agriculture and agro-biodiversity conservation. Students study at S&S homestead in Western Washington to look at holistic farm systems and traditional strategies to protect wild biodiversity in agroecosystems. At the Goetheanum, in Dornach, Switzerland, students study philosophical underpinnings of biodynamics including ideas from Goethean science. Study includes practical farm experience (e.g. working on biodynamic preparations and composts) and applied research. Students participate in carbon-offsetting at Inspiration Farm.
